Chesterfield Home Inspection

We recently performed a home inspection in Chesterfield, VA. As with all of our inspections, we found some deferred maintenance such as deficient caulking, clogged gutters, and trees in contact with the roof.  Trees in contact with with the roof should never be taken lightly. We have found significant damage from tree branches scraping the shingles. Luckily, there was no damage to this roof at the time of the inspection.

We also found some interesting defects with the deck and porch. Defects with decks are prevalent during our home inspections.

If the "bump out" is for a chimney, or bay window, you can frame around it. If the "double header" spans more than 6 feet, it will need additional posts-with the proper footings of course.

Here you can see the deck was attached to the home without removing the vinyl siding. This area will be more prone to moisture intrusion and deck failure.
